I bought a mini christmas tree, which was $12. This week is the last week of this semester. I somehow run out of energy at this point, but will hang in there until the end!
I had my Brass Quintet piece premiered at school the other day. The piece was commissioned by my friend who is in the Brass Quintet group. That was totally impressive experience for me to write a piece with the performance opportunity assured.
The title "Horizon(s)" originally means the line between land and sky, but in this piece I referred the line between cloud and the sky above it. I got the idea of this piece when I saw the scenery from the airplane back to NY from Japan this summer. I thought the view of the sky above the cloud was very sacred since human being could never see it before the airplane was invented. I believe it was used to be the last scenery that the souls see when they leave the earth to heaven. I hope they are feeling relieved and positively expecting to be born again.
I feel that November went so fast. I had been working on class works such as oral presentation and writing papers, application for some composition competitions, and coordinating upcoming student composer concert since I last updated this blog. Now is the Thanksgiving holiday, and I was invited to my friend's grandma's home and had the traditional thanksgiving dinner. Along with appreciating this holiday, the city has been gradually shifted to the Christmas decoration.
I went running to the reservoir of Central Park early in the morning. Outside was extremely cold, and I felt my body was freezing even though I was keep running. But it was still nice to feel the morning air.
It is winter time from today, so I adjusted all the clocks in my room.
昨日金管五重奏を書き終わりました。思ったより時間がかかってしまいましたが、仕上げに時間をとることができたのはよかったです。タイトルは「Horizons」で、I.Blue Horizon, II. White Horizon, III.Red Horizonの三楽章、計5分の曲です。12月1日の演奏会で演奏してもらう予定なので、今週末パート譜を仕上げてしまいたいと思います。
I saw an airship in the sky the other day.
I finished writing my brass quintet piece yesterday. It took more time than I thought, but I was glad that I was finally able to finish it. Its title is Horizons (I.Blue Horizon, II.White Horizon, III.Red Horizon), and it is 5 minutes piece. I will have this piece performed on December 1st concert at school. I would like to finish the parts this weekend and give them to the performers soon.
