Today, Kyoto got so much snow. Since it is rare that I get this much snow here, I walked around my home on the way to the shopping district nearby to see the snowy landscape.

After I came back to home, I spent most of the time meeting my family and friends, going shopping, and going to hospital to check my health. I am always surprised to see so many Japanese at first when I get back to Japanese airport until I get used to it soon. Since Japanese is my native language, I feel at ease to comunicate with people with it. But at the same time, I sometimes feel uncomfortable when I catch other people's conversation since I can understand every word. Other thing I noticed as a comfortable point about being home is that I can speak to people here with my own intonation. I think it is because I feel comfortable when I talk to people with the same intonation of them regardless of language or kinds of intonation, and I can acccomplish it easily with my own one.

Kyoto

Finally, I was able to come back to home this morning. Since I had some time before I leave USA after I left my apartment, and also had time before I get to home after I entered Japan, I could easily adjust to the environment change this time. Although today was a Christmas day, I felt the atmosphere here in Kyoto is already like a New Year's day.

Tokyo

I finally got to Japan, but I am still in Tokyo since my flight has delayed 7 hours and I was not able to get on the connecting flight to Osaka. But since I do not have any particular plan for tomorrow, I was able to enjoy this situation somehow without feeling frustrated. At the airport, I ate various cup cakes of Starbucks since I got 30 dollars note for use in the airport when I checked in. And I spent time planning a schedule and writing diaries, so on. I remember I waited long at the airport when I first came to NY for sightseeing since I failed to get on the connecting flight, and I also stayed in the airport for whole night being hungry on the way home from the audition. So this time, it was really a comfortable one compare to other cases. I am looking forward to get to home tomorrow.

NY

It has already been a few days after school ends, and I will come back to home soon. Once someone described the living in NY as, "You have no time to think deeply about what you experienced here. Everyone is busy, so you have no way but to keep on moving even though you have no confidence about what you are doing, otherwise you will be just left behind. So there is also no time for having pity on yourself of being lonely." After I heard this, I feel better than before when I have to go on to next step even though I am not quite ready. I sometimes recall these words.

The orchestra concert went very well the day before yesterday.
I am still excited and not quite sure about how much I have learned from this experience. Anyway, I am really happy that it went well.
I have kept working on this piece since this semester started. I remember every step to get to this performance, such as finishing the score, submission for the competition, announcement of being chosen to perform, revising the score, making parts, and the rehearsals. Since I believed that one can say he is a composer as long as he can compose orchestra piece in my childhood to think about my dream to become a composer, I now realized that the dream came true.
What I am especially happy about this opportunity is that I was able to tell my parents, who are always supporting me, that this many people worked hard to give birth to my piece.
I am thankful to all the poeple whom I met through my life.

I missed the chance to write this blog for a while, but I was fine. I was just busy with concert and the rehearsals. At the Student Composer Concert on last Wednesday, I had my flute solo piece performed. While I was writing this piece, I was also making parts for the orchestra at the same time, so I feel I was not able to completely concentrate on this piece honestly. But still I had hard time figuring out how to write a single line piece this time, so I am happy that finally I was able to finish it and get it performed. Although my performer did not have much time, since I was not able to give her the music earlier..., she did great job on it and played it beautifully. The thing I was especially impressed at her performance was her concentration without nervousness. I think it comes from her experience as a flutist in orchestra. In orchestra, flutist, as well as other woodwind or brass players, almost always has to play one part by herself, and it is usually a melody of the piece. I cannot imagine how much pressure would be put to play solo among the orchestra. Then in the orchestra rehearsal, I really appreciated it that they were taking time for rehearsing my piece more than I expected. Although I felt bad when I was not able to answer the question from the conductor properly at once, but I was really happy that I felt he was trying to understand my intension for rehearsing it, which was really impressive and made me feel I am also participating in the rehearsal instead of just sitting and listening to it. It seems getting colder and colder from tomorrow, which is not a happy news for me, but I want to stick to it, the last week of this semester.

Right after the thanksgiving break, christmas trees has been sold on the streets.
In the orchestra rehearsal yesterday, my piece was rehearsed and getting in good shape. At the last rehearsal, I was listening to it from the back of the orchestra, but this time I listened to it from the perspective of the audience, since my teacher came and advised me to do so. By listening to the orchestra, facing them made me a little nervous to worry how to behave as a composer..., but other than that, I was really impressed. I was able to see every performers face and the way of their playing. In addition to that, the balance of the sound was much better there. Unfortunately, there were some mistakes in the score and parts which stopped the rehearsal for a few moment. But in the process of its turning out, I was impressed that the conductor and my teacher noticed it at once by listening to the sound with looking at the score. Although it is because they are professional musicians, still I felt supported by them to feel there are two more people who knows how this piece should sound before the performance.

When I went to a supermarket to buy some food, I found brussels sprouts. Although I haven't even eaten them, I bought them together with olive oil and garlic. I simply cooked them with salt and pepper and ate. They were pretty good. By the way, there are only two weeks left for this semester, which is amazing for me. This week, I have a regular Student Composer Concert and will be played my solo flute piece. And next week, the Orchestra Concert is coming. I want to concentrate on everything I need to do, until finally the semester ends.

Today, I did not have the Score reading and Keyboard class because the teacher of the classes was out of country for his concert. Since these two classes are the hardest ones for me to prepare these days, today was the happiest Friday ever since this semester has started.
By the way, I was worrying what the players in the orchestra feel about my piece, after the rehearsal. But I felt supported when I hear from some players that they liked it. Today I found that I unconsciously got to be wanting to be seen the piece more than it really is, and sometimes it overcomes the thankfulness to be played. Since my work as a composer is done, unless otherwise there are mistakes in the parts or the score.., I will really appreciate every note which was played for my piece from now on.

Yesterday, there was the first orchestra rehearsal for the Composer's Concert on Dec 16. I was wondering whether to go to the first one, since I was advised from other composers that I should better not to go. I understood that they are caring me not to be disappointed at the first rehearsal end up realizing it is difficult to get together a new piece. But since I wanted to be at the rehearsal when the piece is actually born for the first time, so I consulted with the conductor and decided to stay. I was able to learn vividly about orchestration from the first run through such as which entrance is difficult to enter, the volume balance of the instruments, and how my intension worked in terms of orchestration. Above all, I was very impressed and thanked at the fact that the conductor studied my piece taking his time and now conducting, so many people in the orchestra are here playing my piece.

I started learning 3rd position of the violin from three weeks ago, but still I am not get used to it. When I play the open string, I feel it much more comfortable compare to a few months ago. But when I play with left hand, especially with 3rd position, my right hand suddenly goes unstable. My teacher advised me not to be so shy when I play the violin, feel myself as a violinist and always play with confidence. I did not think I become shy when I play the violin, but he must be right... I felt sorry to him for my slow learning, but I really thanked him for encouraging me patiently. I want to find the way to make good use of time and improve myself in studying music, English, Violin, and composition seriously. By the way, the first rehearsal of my orchestra piece is going to start tomorrow. I feel a little nervous about whether the parts work well, and whether the piece can be run through safely. But at the same time, I already feel missing that this concert will be finish within only three more weeks. I want to learn from this opportunity, and appreciate it a lot.

It is surprising that it is already the 4th day of thanksgiving holiday. I saw the thanksgiving parade through the TV at the laundromat. Huge balloon of Hello Kitty is floating. I realized that to appreciate small details about things and to recognize big picture of life needs time with ease, without urgent feeling. Although I did not study so much during this holiday, I made good use of time, such as went to dinner with my best friend, went to see a Broadway Musical, and slept and ate a lot.

Beethoven:Symphony No.4
Shostakovich:Symphony No.5

I just got back to my apartment from work.
At the last class today, Dictation, I volunteered to do two voices on the board. Two voices is the most difficult one for me, so usually I try to do others, one or four voices, if I were to go to the board. But somehow I could do well on the board this time. I am glad I could finish the class feeling good. I finally got five days off, since Thanksgiving holiday is starting from tomorrow.
In the evening, I went to Symphony Space for work, since there were the third concert of Mannes Orchestra. The concert tonight was a graduation recital of conducting major students. I wanted to listen to the concert as an audience on one hand, since one of my friends conducted, but on the other hand, it was also good to help him from backstage. The program was as follows.
Beethoven : Symphony No.4
Shostakovich : Symphony No.5
I also went to my friend's recital last night. What I feel when I go to such graduation concerts is, someone's big day is also always other one's usual day. Both are important, and both are passing so fast.
To celebrate myself for that I was able to hold on to things I had to do until thanksgiving, I got a mini strawberry cake for me.

I got a present from one of my best friends for celebrating me of being chosen in the competition. It was a Japanese comic book of "Ms.Nekomura" which story is about a cat who works as a housekeeper. This comic was originally published serially on the internet day by day, one picture by one. The world where Ms.Nekomura lives is like the old days of Japan, where she makes people around her happy by her honest and warm personality. I knew this story from before and liked a lot, but since I did not expect that I can read it again especially in NY, so I was very impressed and read through it at once. I am really happy to get this warm gift.

Barber : Adagio for Strings
Mozart : Symphony No.29
Pergoresi : Magnificat
Brahms : Alto Rhpsodie

Fortunately, I was able to sing in the concert last night even though still I was a little sick. The programs were as follows.

Barber : Adagio for Strings
Mozart : Symphony No.29
Pergolesi : Magnificat
Brahms : Alto Rhapsodie

I sang Pergolesi as an alto. It was my first experience to sing in the church, and was my second one to sing with full orchestra. Above all, to sing in such a big concert was a good opportunity, so I am really thankful to the conductor, who produced all about this concert. This week, I felt I finally might not be able to go through the entire schedule due to the sickness, but fortunately I could. I appreciate my luck. But I also got tired by sticking to it, so I spent most of the time taking a rest today. I slept a lot in the morning, wrote many pages of diary, and enjoyed practicing the violin in the evening.

I suddenly got sick a few days ago, but getting better rapidly. Since I have a performance tomorrow, I was wondering whether I could to be better enough to sing in the chorus in a few days. But good thing is that I was able to sing in the class today. Anyway, I will bring little box of Kleenex at least a few more days, so if you see me, and if you were run out of Kleenex, feel free to let me know. I will glad to give you some...
By the way, I had a recording session today. One of my friends gave me a chance to do that, so I had my string quartet recorded. In spite of the fact that all the performers were tired, since it was a night time recording session, still they played my piece several times sincerely, so I was really impressed at them. And they sounded great. I realized again that to be performed a piece is the happiest part of being a composer.

It was a really beautiful day today. There is a concert coming this Friday, which is held by my friend, who is a conductor, and I am participating in the concert as an chorus member and had the last rehearsal tonight. Since we sounds great, I am really looking forward to the performance.
Recently, I find myself enjoy singing. I used to feel uncomfortable to sing in front of people since I cannot sing high note, so I have been given up singing somehow from my childhood until recently. but I think I actually liked to sing or wanted to sing. So now I am happy to get the chance to do that with my friends.

It seems I could somehow survive this week, although it was a rather difficult one compare to recent ones. I sometimes think why does it, really busy Friday, happen every week, then I guess it is because I have the busiest classes on this day, and the time is more limited on Friday than other weekdays since it is the end of the week. So, there is no way for me but to work desperately hard on Friday morning until the class starts. Sometimes I feel I am overwhelmed by the things I need to do, especially when I am quite running out of time to work on them, and it is worse when I got depressed from something. But still there is a lesson to learn, which is "There is no storm which never goes away.", so the important thing is not to be so pessimistic even when things seems to be not going well. Anyway, I am really sleepy tonight..

Times Square

Since I had some time after my lesson yesterday, I went to 42nd St, around Times Square, to buy something I wanted to get. It takes only 15 minutes or something to go there by subway from my apartment, but I got tired as I walk there, busy streets with full of people and neon signs. Since my apartment and school are located on rather calm residential area, the atmosphere of the city is really different compare to that of 42nd St. I am always amazed to find how Manhattan has various faces.

Piano performance

I came up with an idea about piano performance when I was listening to one of my friends playing the piano in the Score Reading class. I think the phenomenon, playing the piano, is dependent on how fast, from what angle, and how heavy, the power will be put on the keyboard. But the instance of touching the keyboard will not exist by itself. It should be connecting from the preceding gesture and musical mind of the performer to make a musical sound. I feel it is similar to the fact that tree has the same depth of root in the ground as it's branch. For now, I only can read score note by note, like almost murmuring on the keyboard. But when she, a pianist, plays piano from the score, it is still a good performance. Every notes are alive forming the piece, and her gesture seems connecting to the notes she makes. It reminds me of a big tree. Even though I cannot play piano like a pianist, when I play it, I would like to do it more musically.

Autumn

Summer time was over today, so I felt as if I got an extra hour. Although I knew about it, when I woke up this morning, I was completely forgetting about it. Then since I thought I slept too much, I was glad when I recognized it. Actually this time change means we are awaking one more hour than usual, even if we sleep at the same time as usual, but still I feel glad about it. To appreciate this happy gap, I left my Swatch unchanged today. We had several windy and cold days recently, but still sometimes there are a beautiful autumn day. I was able to spent rather time relaxed this weekend than recent ones.

Since I am done with the whole schedule for today, Friday, I really feel relieved now. I imagine it might be the same kind of feeling that one feels when the long tennis rally is over, or the long line for the register is finally gone. Yesterday, there was a concert of Mannes orchestra at Alice Tully Hall, so I went there for working as an orchestra librarian. I was somehow able to listen to the performance backstage thorough a monitor though, I missed most of the second half since I had some work to do. I sometimes wish I could listen to the concert sitting as an audience though, still be in the backstage mean to me a lot. Since I was able to submitted my parts this week anyway, I will spent a few time figuring out which I should do next now.

Today, I got a happy news that I won The CIRCE (Composer-In-Residence-Chamber-Ensemble) competition. This competition is one of the four competitions held by Mannes composition department. Two composition major students are chosen to write a new piece for chamber ensemble formed by Mannes students which will be premiered at the concert next year together with the piece written by the Composer-In-Residence. I am really happy to be chosen this year, since I applied last year though was not able to be chosen. In real life, I am still keep feeling upset about how my knowledge and understanding of music is not enough as a composer, but still it is definitely a happy future from the point when I started studying here last year. I appreciate everything and everybody who supports me. The concert will be on May 4th next year at Mannes, so if somebody will be staying in NY at that time by any chance, please come..

I finally submitted my parts for the orchestra piece today. Since the score making software can transfer the date from score to the parts directly, the amount of work making parts is far less than what was in the early days in the music history when there was not even a printing machine. But still, making good parts seems to needs much work to be done one by one manually, such as adjusting the page size, font size of each symbols, putting cues after the long rest, page layout, making an arrangement for page turning, and printing them out and binding them together, so on. Even if one work needs only 1 minutes in each, since I have 30 parts this time, that means I need 30 minutes to go over all the parts. So I was afraid thinking I might not be able to finish the work according to the schedule. But at the same time, since these work needs much woke and time, I thought if there were not a goal of performance, it must be hard to get an opportunity to learn how to do it. So, this is really a good chance and I appreciate it.

It was the busiest day today of the week, since I have many classes which needs good preparation on Fridays. By the way, these days I have been unconsciously forcing myself feel upset all the time. In general, I think there are three factors which exist in the process of finishing one project by the dead line, which are, "The amount of work which is needed to finish the project", "The amount of time you can spend on the project", and "The amount of energy you can put on the project." My problem is that I sometimes just keep working on the plan which I originally planned even though I noticed that is not going well, without taking time to planning it again.

I think I should seriously consider the balance of those three factors, I mentioned before, really objectively.

To finish the project in the best shape: Much work, energy, and time are needed.

Less time left before the due : Need to think seriously of the practical goal.

No prospect for finishing the project before the due : Seek the extension of the due.

These things are useful if I could carefully examine them far before the due, or at least before start working on the project. Why I am thinking these things is because of the parts. Originally, I was told to submit the parts within this week, so I was really urgent to finish them even it seems very difficult. But yesterday, when I asked my friend whose piece is also chosen to be performed, he told me that he is going to submit it next Monday. I was surprised and asked about it to the coordinator, then he told me that is fine. I felt really my mind was opened that moment. I learned how it is important to see the needs of actual world before I was stuck in myself... Anyway, I will submit them on next Monday for sure.

These days, I see pumpkins everywhere in the city, since next Saturday is Halloween.

Today, I was finally able to finish preparing all the documents for scholarship application and sent it, which I had been working intensively on from last night. I am applying for the scholarship of Rohm Music Foundation again following from last year. I was planning on sending it via Fedex, since I thought it is the fastest way to send documents to Japan even though it costs me much. Actually the scheduled deliberate date I was told at the Fedex store was later than I thought, but I was glad that it is still supposed to reach to the company before the deadline.

By the way, today my room had applied insecticide for bed bugs for the 5th time. I am sorry to talk about this problem again and again here though... It is really annoying to find out I was bitten by them one day after I do not see them for a while. Since it happened to me rather recently, my roommate and I decided to ask the company to stop by our place, when we heard our neighbor asked them for coming. As I heard from the guy came to apply the insecticide, he found the bugs in the lower floor, and he told me that it would have been one of the reasons why the bugs have not disappeared from my room even though they applied insecticide again and again. I really hope for the bugs to go away this time. I put a link above of the “Preventing and Getting Rid of Bed Bugs Safely”, a guide book issued by NYC, hoping that someone who is also been annoyed by the bugs can use it as a reference.

Two weeks has passed since I was told that my piece will be performed. Today, I finally was able to submit the final version of the orchestra score. During those weeks, I was working on fixing the notations, and making the idea of the piece clearer. I should have done these things before I submitted the score in September though, since I was given the chance to revise it, I really wanted to finish it nicely as much as I can. So, I did one procedure again and again, which is to print out the score, and see through each parts, then if I find something incorrect, mark it, and make it better on computer and print them out again... It was almost like paving the road, there seems to be no shortcut doing this, but just to put as much time working on it until it gets in good shape. It sometimes scares me thinking that there are number of musicians beyond my music, but it itself is the priceless experience for me.

Brahms : Tragic Overture, Op.81
Strauss : "Dance of the Seven Veils" from Salome
Dvorak : Symphony No.9 in E minnow, Op.95 "From the New World"

These days, I have been working hard on finalizing the orchestra score for the performance. Since it is taking much more time than I estimated before, I am upset though, hopefully I will finish it soon. And the good thing is I am feeling much better. By the way, there was the first Mannes Orchestra Concert last night at Allice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. The Program were as follows.

Brahms : Tragic Overture, Op.81
Strauss : "Dance of the Seven Veils" from Salome
Dvorak : Symphony No.9 in E minnow, Op.95 "From the New World"

This time, I entered the backstage of Allice Tully Hall for the first time as an Orchestra Librarian, to pick up the parts on the stage during intermission and after the concert. I was exited that I could see what is going on at the backstage of orchestra performance. Unfortunately, I was not able to see the performance entirely, but I could see it sometime through the monitor. And I recalled that last year, I was so impressed listening to the same concert as an audience, with felling the happiness that finally I was able to become a Mannes student.

And this is the picture I took from Empire State Building the other day. The night view of NYC is rather orange than that of Kyoto, so that makes me feel emotional though, it is beautiful.

I want to announce something wonderful Today. I was told that my orchestra piece which I submitted two weeks ago for the competition was chosen, and will be performed by Mannes Orchestra on December 16th. The title of the piece is "Deja-vu". The previous night of the submission date, my precious cat which had lived with my family more than 15 years passed away. I felt this result may be part of the last present from him. I am really happy to be chosen, and thankfull for all the people supporting me, especially my family. Thank you.

I feel how I spend the time during the weekend directly effects the busyness of the following week. I got my hair cut, and got violin lesson and English lesson today. One thing I missed in this weekend is my favorite housework, landry. I am thinking of doing that tomorrow morning before the class if it is not rainning..

《A music term of the day》
Appoggiatura : a metrically strong dissonance, normally arrived at by leap and resolved by descending step.

http://www.protectabed.com/TWIN_Bed_Bug_Protection_Kit/product.htm?pid=666749&catid=30649

Recently, I had not been bitten so often though, still I saw a few of bed bugs in my room. So, today I had my room applied insecticide spray for the third time. The good things about it are, I and my roommate do not need to pay for the cost, the owner of this apartment will do, and the company will come to apply the spray more than one time as a follow up if we still see the bugs. To prepare for the application, moving furnitures apart from the wall and put things away from the floor, is some work though, I and my roommate are even used to it. When I was shopping at the supermarket today, I heard the radio advertisment that one of the mattress company is doing a promotion especially for New York residents of a product which protects bed from bed bugs . It says, if we buy one, we can get 1 for free. Hmm..

《A music term of the day》
Suspension: normally a dissonant tone occuring in a strong metrical position, having been sustained ( or "suspended" or "prepared" ) from an initial attack as a consonance and converted to a dissonance as a result of motion in another voice. It is most often resolved downward by step. *Definition by "The Harvard Concise Dictionary of Music and Musicians"

Check

I finally got the check which I has been long waiting for. It is the award money I was given when I got the prize with the piano trio in April. I had to submit the form to get the check and supposed to wait for a while, but it should not have taken that long. It seems that there were succession of mistakes in the procedure of issuing the check within the office, which does not happen so often as I heard. I submitted the same form again and again since even I waited for more than a few months, no notice has been sent to me. But finally, I was able to get it, which is great. I had been being uneasy about this until today though, sometime it happens. I am really thankful to get it finally.

《A music term of the day》
Twelve-tone music : Music based on a serial ordering of all twelve chromatic pitches. These series of twelve pitches (also known as the row), whose form is uniquely determined for each composition, serves as the reherential basis for all pitch events in that composition (in distinction to the seven-note diatonic basis used in tonal music). The term is most commonly applied to music by Alnold Schoenberg and his followers, though Josef Matthias Hauser actually developed a somewhat different type of twelve-tone composition shortly before Shoenberg. *Definition by "The Harvard Concise Dictionary of Music and Musicians"

Ear Training

Ear Training is the class which needs much time for me to prepare, but it is worth doing. I recently noticed something about myself musically by practicing an assignment for that class. When I was practicing "Modus Nobus", singing Augmented triad in various enharmonic notation, I found myself actually singing Major triad or Miner triad often without notice until I play them on the piano. It tells me that I am not singing entirely depending on absolute pitch but rather on memory of familiar sound such as Major or Minor triad. I recall what the teacher of choral conducting told us in the class that "mistakes" are the results of expectation, so it is worth thinking carefully why it happened to learn.

These days I usually walk back from Practice Center after I finish my work shift at night. Since the weather has been nice these days, to walk at night is comfortable. By the way, along the road which I usually walk, there were street markets yesterday. When I passed by there in the afternoon, there were many people coming for the markets. Then when I passed there again in the evening, still there were people gathering the trush on the road. Seeing them working hard to make the road clean after fun event, I recalled school festival of my high school days. I remember I learned that festival needs preparation beforehand and clean up afterwards.

I have not been writing this blog for a while, since I did not have enough energy to do to finish my orchestra piece by the deadline, yesterday. Anyway I subumitted it since I had been decided to do so, even though I was not be able to completely finish it especially in terms of notation. By the way, I think writing music is like a travel, and I experienced a lot on this travel. I hope all the things I experienced and thought in writing the piece, and in my real life were somehow working together to make the piece better. There were some words on my mind when I was finishing the piece, which was one of the advise from the teacher of the choral conducting class. He advised us not to be nervous when we were to conduct in front of people. He said, "There is music, and the music itself will help you." I understood it as, we do not need to think we are the only person who are responsible for making the music come out from nothing. If there are musics and singers who are up to sing, then music would come up by itself. All we should do is to connect with the music. I thought this advise is also applied to composition. To compose may be something to also connect to the "music" which is one of the organized fields with established roles, to find the way for the piece to go. *Definition by Wikipedia

On Campus jobs

Room Scheduling Office
Practice Center
Orchestra Librarian

I got more on campus jobs this semester than last one, then I am now working for three offices as listed above. Today, I had all of them successively right after I finish one class in the morning. At Room Scheduling Office and Practice Center, my main job is to book practice rooms for students, so my first goal for them is to became good at catching students' name correctly at once when they spell it for me. And as an orchestra librarian, I expect myself to be sufficient to use a copy machine.

9/11

I could somehow manage to finish the first 2 weeks of the Fall semester today. I sometimes feel like the "Schedule" is compared to a choreography. In a choreography, each motion of the dancer is decided along with the meter. And regardless of the difference of the stages, such as big or small, stable or unstable, and indoor or outdoor, dancers are expected to perform steadily to the choreography. The same thing is applied to the schedule, so people are expected to do certain thing weekly regardless of their personal happenings or health issues. I feel the beginning of new life is always the time of learing the new choleography.

There was no class today because of Rash Hashanah, so I went to Mistuwa, a Japanese shopping mall at New Jersey in the morning to buy something. I wanted to buy a Japanese insecticide for cockroaches but also effective for bed bugs. But I was not able to buy it after all, because they did not have one. I asked at the customer service, then they answered that it is about the restriction of exportation for such insecticide or spray type product. Only product they have for getting rid of bugs is "Katori Senkou", which is an incense to stay away mosquitos by its smoke. I might be able to figure that possibility out if I think more carefully beforehand. But, since I expected to get it, I was a little dissapointed. Anyway, I bought some Japanese food there.

Since I had a composition lesson today, I bought a pack of orange juice for myself as a reward, which is a little more expensive one than the one I usually buy. Anyway, the deadline for an orchestra piece is coming next week. When I talked with my teacher about the notation of the music at the lesson, I realized I have not well used the music dictionary which I brought from Japan. So, to make use of it, I will pick up a word randomly from it and put here. The name of the dictionaly is "Shin-pen Ongaku Chu-jiten" which means "The New Edition of Music Dictionary"in English.

This is what we call "Grean Tea" in Japan, which is a mixture of powdered green tea and sugar. We usually drink it dissolving in the cold water especially in summer. My friend who visited NY the other day gave it to me as a souvenir from Kyoto. Basically, I like "Grean tea" very much, and this one made by "Ippo-dou", a famous tea house in Kyoto, is the best of all I ever drunk. I think I will somehow get this every summer from now on. This and Calpico helped me a lot to survive this hot summer. Today was a labor day, so I did not have any class. It was a cool, comfortable day.
