部屋

このアパートでの生活もだんだんと落ち着いてきました。今回はありがたいことに部屋がとても広いので、食卓ににガーベラなど飾ってみました。

物がなければお花を飾ってみたいと思い、静かだと音楽を聴きたいと思い、キッチンが使えれば料理をしたいと思うものなのだなあと不思議な気持ちです。

昨日は家探しや引越でお世話になった友達を招いてハウスウォーミングパーティーをしました。自分でパーティーを開催するのは初めてで準備にはあたふたしましたが、人が来てくれてそれなりにおもてなしができて、これで「ああ、暮らしていけそうだな。」という気がしました。

I am getting used to the living in my new apartment. The other day, I got two gerberas for the living room. It makes the room much more comfortable.

It is interesting that I want flowers if I don't have so much stuff in the room. Also, I want to listen to music because the room is quiet, and want to cook since I can use kitchen anytime.

I held housewarming party at my place yesterday. It was my first party ever, so it took a while to prepare food and stuff. But it was so much fun, and I felt I am ready to live by myself after the party.

冷蔵庫

冷蔵庫が使えるようになりました！

というのも、前に部屋にあった冷蔵庫があまりに古すぎて使えず、大家さんが買い替えて今日運んで下さったのでした。今日までは基本的に食事は買ってすませていたのですが、もはやパンや卵や牛乳を買って帰れるありがたみ。。。その上、立派な冷蔵庫を一人で使えるのはアメリカにきて以来初めてなので嬉しくて仕方ありません（今まで２〜４人とシェアだったので）。牛乳とオレンジジュースを同時に保持できるありがたみ。。。嬉しくて、今日は学校から帰ってからもう夜でしたが買い物に行きました。今回引越をして以来、生活するということについて一つ一つ実感する日々です。

I got my fridge! I haven't have a fridge until now at this new apartment, since the old fridge which was here was broken. The apartment owner got a new fridge for me today. I cannot express this happiness and thankfulness that I finally obtained my own fridge. I used to share fridge with 2-4 people in the dorm and former apartment. Now I can store more food without worrying about occupying other people's space. I find more and more new things about living after I moved this time.

週末

先週のいつかの夕暮れ時です。ふとこういう風景を見上げては、あらためて自分はNYにいるんだなと思います。

少し暖かさの戻った週末もあっという間に終わり、明日からまた新しい一週間が始まります。

This is a picture I took last week in the evening. I feel like I am gradually used to the life here, but sometimes I realize that I am in NY, especially when I look up these huge beautiful buildings.

This weekend was warmer than past few days. I hope the warm whether continues a little more.

水曜日

今日はなんとも秋の良いお天気だったので、レッスン前お昼を買いに行くついでにリバーサイドパークまで行ってみました。

ここは本当に好きな場所です。それでも雨や風がひどかったり、寒すぎては長くいられないので、ここでほっとできる時は大切にしたいなと思います。ところで、今はというと金管五重奏を書いています。初めて書く編成ですが、楽しいです。

先週の水曜にはマネスオーケストラがカーターのフルートコンチェルトを演奏しました。ニューヨークタイムズに記事が載っています。ご本人も演奏会に来られていて、演奏後拍手にこたえて手を振っていた姿が印象的でした。現在102歳で、演奏された曲は99歳の時に書いたものだそうです。頭が下がります。

I went to the Riverside Park before my lesson today. This is the place which I really like, but the good season is not so long. I would like to come here more often before winter comes. By the way, about the composition, I am writing a piece for Brass Quintet. This is my first time writing for this instrumentation, and I am really enjoy writing so far.

Last Wednesday, The Mannes Orchestra played Carter's Flute Concerto at Alice Tully Hall. There was Carter at the Hall and he was acknowledged after the performance. I heard that he is now 102 years old, and he was 99 when he wrote the piece. It is absolutely amazing.

引越

お久しぶりです。

夏前に始めた引越先探しが思いのほか難航していたのですが、ようやく昨日引っ越すことができました。スーツケース一つを持ち物に、友だちを頼って早一ヶ月、おかげさまでようやく落ち着く場所を得られて幸せです。

I had been busy with apartment hunting these days, and finally moved into a new apartment yesterday. I could somehow survive September thanks to my friends' help of offering me the place to stay. I am glad that I finally obtained my own place.
