作曲科のコンサートでは、フルートソロを演奏してもらいました。この曲はオーケストラのパート譜作りと並行して書いたので集中しきれなかったという反省はありますが、初めてのシングルラインの作曲に苦労したので発表まで漕ぎ着けられて嬉しかったです。演奏者に楽譜を渡せたのも遅めだったのですが、本番でも落ち着いて丁寧に演奏してもらえてほっとしました。
ところで彼女が演奏しているのを見て、その冷静さにさすがだなと思いました。管楽器全般に言えることですが、特にフルートはオーケストラの中でもメロディーラインを受け持つことが多く、オーケストラの皆が聴いているプレッシャーの中でいつもソロを演奏しているようなものだものなと思いました。
オーケストラ曲の方は、思っていたよりも時間をかけてリハーサルをしてもらって本当にありがたいです。リハーサル中に指揮者に質問を投げかけてもらってうまく答えられないこともありましたが、作曲者の意図を汲もうという心意気を感じて感激し、また私もようやくリハーサルに参加できているように感じました。
明日から寒くなるそうですが、いよいよ今学期の最終週なのでがんばりたいと思います。
I missed the chance to write this blog for a while, but I was fine. I was just busy with concert and the rehearsals. At the Student Composer Concert on last Wednesday, I had my flute solo piece performed. While I was writing this piece, I was also making parts for the orchestra at the same time, so I feel I was not able to completely concentrate on this piece honestly. But still I had hard time figuring out how to write a single line piece this time, so I am happy that finally I was able to finish it and get it performed. Although my performer did not have much time, since I was not able to give her the music earlier..., she did great job on it and played it beautifully. The thing I was especially impressed at her performance was her concentration without nervousness. I think it comes from her experience as a flutist in orchestra. In orchestra, flutist, as well as other woodwind or brass players, almost always has to play one part by herself, and it is usually a melody of the piece. I cannot imagine how much pressure would be put to play solo among the orchestra. Then in the orchestra rehearsal, I really appreciated it that they were taking time for rehearsing my piece more than I expected. Although I felt bad when I was not able to answer the question from the conductor properly at once, but I was really happy that I felt he was trying to understand my intension for rehearsing it, which was really impressive and made me feel I am also participating in the rehearsal instead of just sitting and listening to it. It seems getting colder and colder from tomorrow, which is not a happy news for me, but I want to stick to it, the last week of this semester.
